Necco Haviland Thin Mints

Type: mint covered in chocolate
Origin: U.S.A.
Manufacture: Necco
Purchased from CVS West Lafayette, Indiana
I am not a big fan of mint or chocolates made from Necco. These thin mints however are pretty good. The white creamy filling is not overpower the chocolate and has just the right amount.

Choward's Violet

Type: Purple square mint candy
Manufacture: C.Howard CO., INC
Origin: U.S.A
Purchase from the Liquor store at Market Street San Francisco

This candy has a nice smell. It is brittle and does not have a strong mint flavor. In fact, it tasted like a medicine.

Polo

Type: Peppermint Candy
Origin: Indonesia
Manufacture: Nestle
Purchase from Makati Supermart Alabang, Philippines

I grew up with Polo peppermint candy so you can imagine how excited i was when i saw Polo in the Philippines!
To my surprise this candy was made in Indonesia. This round shape candy has a hole in the middle. It is brittle, not too minty and it has the right amount of mint.

Rocky Road

Type: Chocolate bar coated marshmallow
Origin:U.S.A
Manufacture: Annabelle's
Purchase from Walgreen's at Chestnut St, San Francisco

I have decided to try and compare all of the three flavours of Rocky Road. Among the three, my favorite is Rocky Road Dark Chocolate coated marshmallow mint with cashew ( the green wrapper). The marshmallow is soft, green and has a strong minty smell. The mint flavour is not too heavy. it has a nice mix of dark chocolate and mint. The mint and the dark chocolate compliments each other; one does not overtaken the other.
My second favorites is Rocky Road Dark Chocolate coated marshmallow with cashew (the gold wrapper). The dark chocolate has bittersweet taste and more chocolaty than the milk chocolate. The marshmallow is thick, foamy and not sticky.
And the least favorite is the Rocky Road Milk Chocolate coated marshmallow with cashew ( the red wrapper). When it compares with the mint and dark chocolate, the milk chocolate does not stand out in terms of flavour. It does has a smoother taste than the other two however, i find that this bar particularly dull.
